A.9. The Types and thickness of natural vegetation varies from place to place because of the variation in temperature and moisture and slope and thickness of soil.

A.11. The hardwood trees of tropical deciduous forest are sal , teak neem and shisham. Hardwood trees are extremely useful for making furniture, transport and construction material.

Q12. Why tropical rainforest is known as Evergreen?
A.12. As there is no particular dry season, the trees do not shed their leaves altogether . This is the reason they are called evergreen.

A18.   1. Wood of coniferous trees are very useful for making pulp.
           2. Pulp is used for manufacturing paper.
           3. Pulp also helps to manufacturing newsprint.

Q19. In which part of the world in seasonal grassland found?
A.19. (i) Tropical Grassland- these occur on either side of equator or extend till the tropics. The gross can grow very tall about 3to 4 meters in height. Elephant, zebra, giraffe etc. are found.
(ii) Temperate Grassland: - Temperate grassland are found in the mid latitudinal zones and in the interior part of the continent. Examples are wild buffalo, bison etc.
