1.       Name the two types of communication?
Ans. Two type of communication are:
Personal Communication and Mass Communication.
2.       Who invented the radio?
Ans. Guglielmo Marconi invented the radio.
Write Short Note on the following:
1.      Television
Ans. John Logie Baird invented the television in the year 1926. We can watch many channels from all over the world on it. It both educates and entertains us. It covers political news, sports news, movie review, music, cartoon pictures and travel show. We can also watch many events live on television.
2.       Telegraph:
Ans. Samuel Morse invented the telegraph. Telegrams are used to send short messages in the form of codes called the Morse code. Coded messages are sent through wires by mean of telegraphs. They are received at the other end, decoded and finally sent to us.

3.      Radio:
Ans.  Guglielmo Marconi an Italian scientist invented the radio in the year 1886. The radio gives us programs on national and international news. It has many channels to entertain us
4.      E-mail:
Ans. An e-mail is sent through a computer. It is a popular, cheap and easy means of communication. We can send e-mail if we have an internet connection. The message reaches anywhere in the world. It is for both purposes-official and personal.
Answer the following questions:
1.       How does the postal system help us to communicate?
Ans. We send letters, aerogramme and parcels by using the postal service. Letters are sent through a normal post by putting them in envelopes and affixing stamps on them. We can also send urgent letters through registered post or courier.
2.       What do you understand by mass communication?
Ans. Mass Communication means communicating with masses or large number of people through books, magazines, newspapers, radio, cinema, and televisions. Internet and satellites are also the forms of mass communication that are widely used.  
3.       Why is cinema such a popular means of mass communication? You may give your own points also.
Ans. It is so because a large number of people watch cinema and it is a good source of entertainment for them. Through cinema we can know about various cultures, places, lifestyle and problems of the people whom. It also tell us about national integration, communal harmony and education.   

4.       How effective are advertisements as a means of mass communication?
Ans. Advertisements are very effective as a means of mass communication. They give us information about products within in seconds in the most interesting way. Advertisements reach more people through radio and television than through newspaper and magazines. Social awareness is also spread through advertisements.
5.       Which is your favorite means of mass communication and why?
Ans. Television, cellphones, cinemas.
    High order thinking:
1.        There has been a bomb blast in a city in India. You want to know the details of the attack as you are worried. Which means of communication will you choose to know the details and why? Remember you cannot use a mobile phone as lines are jammed.
Ans.  I would like to use television. It gives an on-the-spot details of the incident. It also provides the helpline numbers. The details will also be available in the print media and internet. 
    Value Based Question:
1.       As we keep growing up, we keep losing touch with people we know. How would you make sure not to lose touch with people you care for?
Ans. In modern times, when we have so many means of communication. Now it is not at all difficult for us to be in touch with people. So we should always find time out for our relatives and friends, no matter how much busy we are.
