Who are Adivasi?
Ans: Forest dwellers are called Adivasi.
2.
How forests are wealth for the Adivasi?
Ans: Adivasi go in jungles collect wood, herbs, fallen leaves and
flowers, bamboo sticks, wild fruits etc. for their use.
They to sell them in the market.
Thus they get their livelihood from the forests.
So forests are wealth for them.

Why do the contractor cut the forests?
Ans: The contractor cut the forests to clear the land for mining and
making dams in the name of development.
4.
What is Jhoom Farming?
Ans: In Jhoom farming, after cutting one crop, the land is left for some
years.
The bamboo and weed which grow on that land are not pulled out.
They are cut and burnt.
The ash make the land fertile.

Ans: The land on which the people of Mizoram grow one tin of seed is
called one tin of land.

1. Write a short on Cheraw dance.
Ans: Cheraw is a special dance of Mizoram
people.
In this dance people sit in pairs
in front of each other.
They hold bamboo sticks on the ground.
As the drum beats, the bamboos are beaten to the ground.
Dancers step in and step out of the bamboo sticks.
Thus they dance to the beat.
2. Why learning from forests is as
important as learning from books?
Ans: It is important to learn things from forests because forests teach us
the true lesson of life.
They make us remember our traditions.
They give us almost everything that is needed for our day to day life
e.g. oxygen, furniture, sports goods, medicines etc.
They keep us near the ‘Mother Nature’.
They are also home of many rivers.
They are home of many birds and animals.
3. What is taught in Torang centers?
Ans: They taught the traditional music and songs in the ‘Torang centers’.
Children are taught about the herbs and medicines that we find in
forests.
They are taught to make things from bamboo.
They are taught their traditional language and make them link it to the
language taught in school.
There the children are made to celebrate their traditional festivals.
They are made to wear their traditional clothes.
4. Why forests called collective banks?

Write uses of forests.
Ans: The forests are called the collective banks because they are useful
for the city dwellers as well as the forest dwellers.
They give oxygen to breathe.
They give herbs for medicines.
We get wood for furniture and fuel from the forests.
Leaves of the trees are used to make plates, cups and bowls.
Paper, rubber and lac are obtained from jungle.
We get minerals and water from jungles.
All these things are very useful
for everyone.
