Ans- Humming birds, bird of paradise and toucan are the birds that we are likely to find in rainforest of amazon.

Ans-Amazon basin lies in the equatorial region. It is formed by the river Amazon and its tributaries.

Ans- Amazon basin is unfavorable for human habitation due to:
1.     Dense tropical forests.
2.      Hot and humid climate.

Ans –Ganga Brahmaputra basin is densely populated because of:
1.     Favorable climatic conditions.

3.      Land is fertile which is good for agriculture.
Ques 10- What do you mean by shifting agriculture? Write its disadvantages.
Ans- Shifting agriculture is a way of cultivating land where farmers clear a piece of land by slashing or cutting down tree and bushes. It’s another name is slash and burn agriculture.
Disadvantages of shifting agriculture:-
1. It can easily lead to deforestation.
2. Itcreates airpollution.
3. It destroys water sheds.
4. Shifting farming can easily cause soil erosion.
5. It easily leads to loss of biodiversity
 Ques11-Why are  the  rainforests  depleting?
Ans-The rainforests  are depleting due to the  following reasons:
1.Large scale deforestation for construction of roads,industries,and houses.
2.The indigenous population was pushed out for the developmental activities which is leading to destruction of rain forest.
Ques12-Why is paddy  grown in the Ganga Brahmaputra plains?
Ans-Paddy is grown in the Ganga Brahmaputra plains due to the availability of  fertile soil and  sufficient water which is provided by high amount of rainfall in this areas.
Ques 13- How is tourism an important activity in Ganga Brahmaputra plain?
Ans-The Ganga Brahmaputra plain has several big towns and cities such as Allahabad, Kanpur, Lucknow,Patna,and Kolkata. All these places are important from tourism point of view.Taj Mahal on the bank of river Yamuna in Agra is a famous tourist place,Buddhist stupas inUttar Pradesh and Bihar,Lucknow with its imambara,Assam with Kaziranga and Manas with wild life sanctuaries are some places in the basin where people from different parts of the country and abroad go with great enthusiasm.
Ques14-Write a note on the people of the Amazon  rain forest.
Ans-The people of Amazon Basin practice slash and burn agriculture, They grow most of their food in small areas .Men hunt and fish along the river and women take care of crops. They mainly grow tapioca, pineapple,sweet potato. Their staple food is manioc also known as cassava. People get wood for their houses from rain forests. They build thatched houses shaped like beehives.
