FOLLWING QUESTIONS:-
1. Why we go to the market?
Ans: We go to buy many things (vegetables, soap, toothpaste, spices,
bread, rice, dal, clothes, notebooks, biscuits.
2. Write types of markets?
Ans: There are many kind of markets that we may visit for our everyday
needs: these can include shops, hawkers’ stall in our neighbourhood, weekly
market, a large shopping complex, perhaps even a mall.
3. What is weekly market?
Ans: A weekly market is called so because it is held on a specific day of
the week. Weekly markets do not have permanent shops.
4. Why things are cheap in weekly market
than permanent markets?
Ans: Things are cheap in weekly market than permanent markets because:-
a. There are a lot of expenditure incur
in the permanent market e.g. rent of the shop, electricity bills, government
fee etc.
b. They have to pay wages of the
workers.
c. On the other hand, in the markets,
the shopkeepers need not to pay rents, electricity bills and fee of the
government. They also do not have to pay wages of the workers as they are
helped by their family members.
5. Write the uses of neighbourhood
shops.
Ans: uses of neighbourhood shops are as follow:-
a. They are near our houses.
b. We can go there any day of the week.
c. The buyers and the sellers know each
other.
d. We can buy goods on credit also.
6. What do you mean by shopping complex?
Ans: The markets in the urban area that have many shops under one roof
are called shopping complex.
7. What do you mean by malls?
Ans: In urban areas there are many large multi storeyed air conditioned
buildings with shops on different floors known as malls. These shops are mostly
branded.
8. Why branded goods are expensive?
Ans: Branded goods are expensive because they are often prompted by
advertising, better quality and transportation.
9. Explain chain of markets? What
purpose does it serve?
Ans: Producer-àbig traders-à whole sellers-à retailers-à consumers.
Producers produces wheat, rice, cotton etc... Then big traders buy those
products from the producers in large quantity. Then the big traders sell these
products to the whole sellers. Whole sellers convert these materials into
products into finished items like biscuits. Cloths and toys. Then they sell
these finished goods to the retailers. The consumers buy those products from
the retailers.
The purpose of the chain of market is to serve as that the consumers
cannot buy bulk of the products directly from the producers and the producers
cannot sell the goods in a small quantity. So there is a need of the chain of
market.
10.In what ways a hawkers different from
a shop keeper?

visit any shop in a market place. Do you think this is true of shops with
expensive products? Explain with example.
Ans: yes a poor person can visit any shop in the market place. He cannot
be stopped by anyone because of his poor appearance. If any person have enough
money he can also visit to any mall or shopping complex. Here in this story the
poor person went to a mall but no one stopped them. The security guard wanted
to stop them but he did not. But when Sujata saw the things she found that she
could buy the same things at less and reasonable price from some other shop.
She came back without buying anything.
12.What is market?
Ans: Market is a place where buying and selling take place.
13.Buying and selling take place without
going to a marketplace. Explain the statement with example.
Ans: Yes we can buy and sell anything without going anywhere. For this we
can login any shopping site on the internet. We can order the things that are
required and make payments either by card or in cash. If after delivery we find
the received goods not up to the mark or of low quality we have the option to
return it and get our money back. For example to buy something we can open
Snap-deal or Amazon. We can type any product that we want. The site will show many
options of the same products along with the price. We can order what we want to
buy and select payment option online payment or cash on delivery. Now select
the payment mode and order the thing. You will get the delivery in a day or
two. Now if you find the product is not
as it was shown you can again open the same site and return the product. The
money will be refunded to you also.
14.What do you mean by whole seller?
Ans: This refers to the buying and selling in a large quantity of all the
products including vegetables, fruits, flowers, cloths, pulses etc.
15.Why do people go to weekly markets?
Ans: people go to the weekly markets because of the following reasons:-
1. Many things in the weekly markets are
available at the cheaper rates.
2. Most of the things you need are
available at one place.
3. You do not have to go to different
areas to buy different things.
4. There is a choice and variety of goods.
5. We can do bargaining also.
