Q1. Have you ever seen the mountains? Have you also climbed a mountain? When and where?
Ans:- Yes, these  summer holidays we went to Shimla.
We climbed mountains to go to Jakhu Temple.
Q2. How far have you walked at one time? How far can you walk?
Ans:- I have walked 4-5 kilometres at one time. I cannot walk more than it at a time.
Q3. What do you think about the responsibilities of a group leader?
Ans:- The responsibilities of a group leader are as follows:--
1.       To take care of every member in the group.
2.       To maintain discipline in the group.
Q4. How would you feel if you were made a leader in such a camp?
Ans:- If I were made a leader of a group I would feel more responsible and confident.
Q5. What does a monitor in your class have to do?
Ans:- Our classroom monitor performs following activities:
1.       Our class monitor maintains discipline in the class. 
2.       He/She arranges chalks, dusters and benches etc.
3.       He/She conveys problems of the students to the teacher.
Q6. Would you like to be a class monitor? Why?
Ans:- Yes, I would like to be a class monitor because I want to take up class responsibilities. It will boost up my skills.
Q7. What kinds of tools are needed for climbing mountains?
Ans:- Ropes, slings, sticks, axe, hunter and shoes etc. are needed for climbing mountains.
Q8. Have you ever seen a hook and rope being used for anything else? Where?
Ans:- Yes, I have seen a hook and a rope used to pull a water bucket from a well, to pull heavy things upwards and to climb a tall building. Rescue and relief teams also use hook to save people.
Q9. What else can we use if we want to cross a river in the mountain?
Ans:- To cross a river in the mountain we need a sling, rope, a  bridge, a trolley or a boat.
Q10. Why do you need extra energy on the mountains?
Ans:- We need extra energy to climb on a mountain because of the following reasons:
1.       We need to put up more efforts.
2.       We climb against gravitational force.
Q11. Have you ever heard of anyone who has done something adventurous? What ?
Ans:- Yes, I have heard about Tenzing Norgay who climbed the Mount Everest.
Q12. Have you ever done anything adventurous? If Yes, Tell your class. Write about it in your own words.
Ans:- Yes, Last year I went to Naina Devi . There I crossed the mountains by the ropeway in a trolley.
Q13. Have you ever climbed a tree? How did you feel? Were you scared? Did you ever fall?
Ans:- Yes, last year I went to my friend’s village. There I tried to climb a tree. I was scared but excited. I was very careful so I didn’t fall down.
Q14. Have you ever seen someone climb a small wall? What do you think is the difference between climbing a wall and climbing a high rock?
Ans:- I usually climb small walls while playing. Climbing a small wall is much easier than climbing a high rock.
Q15. Have you ever lost your way? What did you do then?
Ans:- Yes, I did lose my way .When I lost my way I didn’t get panic. I went to a nearby shop and I told my father’s phone number to the shopkeeper and he called my father. Father came and took me home.
Q16. Is there anyone in your class whose language you do not understand or who does not understand yours? What do you do in such a case?
Ans:- Yes, there is a child in my class who is from Tamil Nadu. We do not understand each other’s language. So, we try to communicate in English language.
Q17. What do you think Khondonbi would have sung loudly?
Ans:-  I think Khondonbi would have sung loudly to get over her fear. She would also have sung loudly so that other group members could find her easily.
Q18. Have you ever seen someone doing something special to get over their fear? What and when?
Ans:-Yes, I have seen my friend shutting his eyes during a rollercoaster ride. He did so to get over his fear.
Q19. Why do you think a drain was dug around the tent?
Ans:- The drain was dug to collect water that was flowing from the sloping roofs of the tent.
Q20. Besides mountaineering , what are other activities that can be called adventurous? Why?
Ans:- The activities such trekking, river rafting, surfing can also be called adventurous because these activities are full of excitement and enjoyment.
Q21. You are on a mountain. How do you feel there? What can you see? What do you feel like doing there?
Ans:- I feel very excited. I can a beautiful landscape around me. There are also many trees all around me. I feel like I am in the heaven. I want to take a few pictures and climb higher and higher.
Q22. Why did Bachendri put up the Indian flag on the peak?
Ans:- Bachendri put up the Indian flag on the peak to honor our country.
Q23. When have you seen our national flag being hoisted?
Ans:- I have our national flag being hoisted on Republic day and Independence Day and on the other moments of national pride.
Q24. Have you seen the flag of any other country? Where?
Ans:-Yes, I have seen the flags of other countries on Television, Internet and in the books. I have also seen Pakistani flags being hoisted on the Indo-Pak Boarder.
Q25. Make groups of 6-8 children. Design a flag for your group. Explain why you chose that design.

This flag has three colors. White color indicates PEACE, Green color indicated VEGETATION and Blue color indicated WATER. All the three things are needed to SAVE OUR PLANET EARTH.
Q26. Explain why it was adventurous and challenging to climb a mountain. How would you prepare if you were to climb a mountain? Why would you take with you? Write in your own words?
Ans:- Mountains offer rough terrain, high altitude and less oxygen. It makes mountaineering a difficult task because of difficulties climbing mountain is an adventurous and challenging task.
I will do a lot of practice before climbing a mountain. I will also take necessary equipments  for example oxygen cylinders, ropes, slings, food, medicines and torch etc. with me.
